Hello there, I have a Motorola SBG6580 and was wondering if it was possible to hook up a router to it in addition to the current router in the Motorola sbg6580 and how one might do so. This is a modem/router and uses a coax cable to get internet.

Also any suggestions on cheap (under $40) routers that would work well along side this Motorola modem/router? Thanks for the help and feedback

Why would you need to. You really don't want to run 2 routers in your house it makes a number of things overly complex. If you need more radio coverage you can run a second router as a AP. Which router you choose to use as a AP mostly depends on what your bands you need.

Would that work if my modem doesn't have a wan/internet port, just has 4 ethernet ports?

Still unclear what your actual problem is but since you posted this to wireless I will assume you have some issue with the motorola wireless.

To use a router as a AP you would just hook one of its LAN ports to one of the ethernet ports you have on your motorola. All a AP does is take signals from wireless PC and convert them to ethernet. It is purely used to get more wireless coverage.
