I have been shopping around for USB A male to USB C female adapters (something like this https://www.amazon.com/Electop-USB-...b+c+input&qid=1578038312&s=electronics&sr=1-9 ). I have an older laptop with USB A ports, but no USB C ports on it, so naturally I would like to use this adapter to allow my laptop to "have" a USB C port. After reading descriptions for many of these types of adapters (such as the Amazon link above), many say that they do not transmit video signal (HDMI, VGA, display port, etc.). For example, the link above says that one of the adapter's features is "USB Functionality ONLY. The adapter CANNOT send HDMI , VGA or other audio & video signal."

I'm not completely sure how this works, so I was wondering if it is still possible to set up a connection to a TV via a USB C to HDMI cable, using the USB A male to USB C female adapter. Since this sounds really confusing, I have, hopefully, a better way of understanding it below.

The connection would look like this:
Laptop with USB A port ------- USB A male to USB C female adapter ------- USB C to HDMI adapter ------- TV

If this is still hard to visualize, I have a picture that should explain it better: View: https://imgur.com/a/voluA9L

Basically, will this connection allow a video signal to be transmitted (using the USB C to HDMI adapter)? Or does the disclaimer that the products have for not supporting video signal render this connection impractical? I'm thinking it should work, but the disclaimer is leaving me scratching my head over this.

Solution
USB C does video because of the connection specifications, not just the fact it has a USB C shaped hole. So changing the connector shape won't allow it to do video. If you want to have HDMI output on this laptop you should get a USB to HDMI video card, but if your USB is not ver 3 it will have probably some image issues with lag and ghosting. There is no need to daisy chain USB to USB C then a USB C to HDMI connector. You need what is pretty much an external video card that runs off USB.
