This has got me thinking, I've got build up a dozen machines in the last 8 years with all sorts of MB sizes, but I had rotten luck on the reliability of my motherboards, they tend to be the first componment to go and the most annoying to replace.

I would like to expect them to last 5 years the minimum, but the last 2, have both only lasted me 15 months until they become unstable (random reboots, not switching on, etc), How they have died I never know, I build them, then put the cases in a high warm dust free area, and rarely need to open the case again (other than occasionally adding a new compoment or troubleshooting another failure not related to the MB), but many I don't plan to move or open the case for years, and I leave them switched on in the day and off completely at night.

The MB's i've had rotten luck with have been the larger ATXs, and oddly the smaller boards like a couple of miniATX sizes (or close to it) have lasted me, so far well over 5-7 years, is it because they are smaller and with less conpoments for failure?

Naturally I given up on the bigger ATX boards now, and planning my next build onto a MiniATX (I no longer trust MicroATX's anymore either), really those small boards have everything I need on a MB, as long as it's got a PCI Express slot, at least 4 SATA Ports, DDR4 Dim Slots, and a dozen USB ports, and of course Audio support, and they seem to be cheaper too.

But I'm really wondering, how suited are they for Gaming. WIll they handle a high-end graphics card with would be almost twice as long as the MB itself along with a 600W PSU. So were is the catch under my circumstances I mentioned above ?
