k im just curious whether or not win98 can boot off of only a cd. its not hard to reply if you know so help me out here. i think its a waste of money for a floppy(rather get a zip)and a waste of case space.

Win98SE and Me should boot off the CDROM.
I agree you will miss your floppy especially since you can get one for about $15US. I actually got a LS-120 drive that is backward compatible with floppys and is bootable as an a: drive.

NT 4.0 since 1997, and all other microsoft OS's since and including the orig. Win98 are all bootable off the CD-Rom. I whole heartedly agree with the "useless" floppy remark, but I've found that they are still a necessity. Until all OS's come with every imagineable SCSI,IDE,CDROM, NIC and Modem drivers right out of the box, chances are you'll still need that 12 year old 1.44 Megabyte technology. It's the only real technological common denominator in PC's anymore.
