In my current PC I'm running a AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU and a GTX 1060 GPU with a suggested power usage of 400-499 watts on a 550 W EVGA 550 B3 PSU. As the last upgrade of this machine instead of going for a whole new one, I'm was wanting to upgrade the 1060 to a 3060 TI since I'm able to find one within my budget. After the upgrade I'm seeing suggested watts to be 500-599 watts. I don't plan on doing any overclocking or anything, will my 550 W PSU still hold up or should I would I need to upgrade that as well?

Thanks for any help.

Here is one suggested psu sizing chart:

It suggests 550w.
You are likely OK.

But... what is your plan "B" if the psu does not work for you?
Thank you for the information! There's no real plan B at the moment. I happened to look at GPU's on a whim today and noticed the price, so I'm not in a massive rush to do the upgrade. Getting a new PSU also isn't completely out of the question. I'm just not super well versed in parts, so I wanted to see if I could get as much information on if it was even possible with my current components, before I actually went though with purchasing the new GPU.

Thank you again for the help.

That 550w psu will suffice for that upgrade for sure. The 3060ti pulls around 200W on full load so it is quite an efficient card. 1060 is pulling around 120W on load so the difference in wattage is pretty low.

I currently have an 600w unit and im running a 5600x and an 3070 + other components and fans etc. Pulling around 470 ish watts on normal load (gaming and whatnot)

Oh alright. That's very helpful. Thank you very much!
