So my internet connection has been slow lately and I read somewhere that you can change your wi-fi channel to one that has less devices on that specific channel, but in order to do so I have to change the router settings. My question is if I change my channel for example from 7 to channel 3(a less crowded channel) will every device switch to that channel or just my computer? Any help or clarification will be great

Solution
When you change the channel all devices will switch to it, As for the 2.4 GHz band the best channel to use is the one that is not overused by your neighbors, channels 1,6,11 have wider bandwidth so they suffer less from interference, though they are NOT the best ones to choose in all cases.

For the optimal results, I recommend you to use this WiFi Analyzer app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=abdelrahman.wifianalyzerpro

This app will analyze your nearby WiFi networks and will till you the best channel for your case in order to avoid interference.
