Hello,

I have a home computer (the one in my sig) and its a Dell, sadly. Anyways I wanted to try Win 7, I thought I'd pop the disc in and boot to it, do a fresh reformat and install. But i was wrong, it just upgraded to it. Is this hows it's supposed to be? (I'm used to reinstalling Windows XP, where it reformats the HDD). Thanks!

It never gave you the screen where it allows you to select where to install windows? (that's where i reformat the drive usually) Maybe I'm confused, you literally did nothing and it upgraded?

Well I did see the advanced options to reformat, delete paritions etc. It took like 1 second to format the partition which I think it didn't do such a goo job of. Thanks for the suggestion Outlander_04, I'll try that right away.

Yeah, that's how it works. It doesn't actually format your drive on the spot when you click "delete" or "format", but it will do it as part of the installation process. But that's the route you need to go, under the "Custom" [or "Advanced", whatever it is] section instead of Upgrade.

Happy 7-ing, I hope.
