[SOLVED] Question regarding gigabye motherboard

Hi, I have a question regarding the gigabyte z390 gaming x motherboard. When I opened up the motherboard there was this weird looking thing that was not attached to the motherboard. I have attached an image of what I am talking about.

Firstly... what is it?
Secondly, is this supposed to be attached on the motherboard by default?
Thirdly, is it important to have this thing attached to the motherboard?

chipset heatsink? and yes,they're usually attached to the board,however, on some boards,(including mine,) the M.2 port is situated underneath so you have to take it off to fit the ssd.
