So my GTX 580 kind of died today and I put the GPU that came with the system Quadro FX4800. Sadky i doesn't support HDMI Audio ( i think because its not working) and don't have a sound card lying around and we have holidays until Sunday so i can't get a new GPU or sound card until then.
Now motherboard has the sound pins which means it has built in sound card but i wasnt getting any sound, the sound menu shows volume meter showing that sound is working (green volume meter) but no sound from the speakers. Now I found the option on the board for the on board sound which was disabled, I then enabled it.
Now i'm getting the sound from the built in speaker which is not loud enough and the speakers are still not working. When i put the speakers' jack in the front panel the sound from the Built in speaker goes away as it suppose to but still no sound from the speakers as its suppose to/

What i wanna ask, what do i do? I am in a bind here..
I'll be grateful for help.

Then you doubtless know that right clicking on the volume Icon in the lower right tray give you a menu that includes "playback devices". Clicking that lets you see the playbackj devices windows thinks are valid, including whether anything is plugged into the port. Selecting a port "that circular shaped" thing then clicking "set default" will route the sound there.

Zaselim,

In the HP z800 User Manual on page 18, there is photo/diagram of the z800 rear panel. In the diagram, No. 8 (under the USB ports on the left) refers to a mini-stereo (3.5mm) port that is the standard pale green color for audio connection. That should send a stereo signal to the speakers.

Digression: [ I might mention that if you are using 2-channeI or 2.1 with a subwoofer, I've had very good sound from the M-Audio 14/192 soundcard. The good feature is that this is recording card, 2-in /2-out duplex- can play and record simultaneously, and has MIDI I/O synth. I've made hundreds of hours of good quality recordings from live instruments and MIDI keyboard, plus sound editing. Another nice feature is that's it's inexpensive used and can occupy the PCI slot so the PCIe are free for other devices. I've had complete reliability over years with used cards. I have a couple of M-Audio 2496's from 2006-2008 and they are also still working fine. The 192 however has a somewhat better sound and S/N.

Also, I like the Logitech speakers systems that have the wired remote control as it puts the On/Off, volume just next to the keyboard, and higher end ones have a headphone jack. I have a z2300 2.1 for my main system, a z313/ 2.1- only $30! for my second system, and another z313 for the Dell E520 that runs the television machine.

I have a Dell Precision T5400 with an FX4800- a great workstation card.

Cheers,

I'm unclear on how big your speakers are. Do your speakers come with a mini-jack like earbuds that you have plugged into the pale green speaker output on either the back or the front of your PC ?

If so, do your speakers play when plugged into an MP3 player or cell phone (checking to see if the amp in the HP has enough juice to drive the speakers). If you plug earbuds into the PC do you hear sound ?

Some audio drivers (like the stock one on win7 and win10) remember separate volume for different outputs. See if your volume is up if earbuds do not make sound.

Final thought, sometimes the plug is not push ALL the way in. It's in just enough to indicate there is a plug in the socket, but not enough to get one or both channels of sound. If the earbuds work and the speakers don't try fiddling with the speakers plug.

Second final thought, older nvidia cards (8400gs for one) had an audio connector to pass the MB sound over hdmi. Look and see if there is a wire you need to attach. You may have removed it when you installed the gtx 580.

third final thought, this is a GREAT time to be replacing your video card. Thank that gtx580 for not failing 3 months ago before nvidia and amd started shipping their new cards. Prices are down and choices abound.

final final thought. You can (i've done this) run HDMI without sound into a TV with speakers and then use an audio cable to run the sound from the PC to the audio input on the TV. See if your TV supports this. If it does set your PC sound as loud as it gets without distortion, then control your actual volume using the volume control on the TV.

2.1 with sub woofer but i also checked with head phones and both of them are working on my iphone.
Reinstalled all the drivers from the HP support and also the realteck drivers.
At the back there 3 ports pink, green and blu which is for Mic, Speakers and Line in and at the front i have two ports (headphones and the mic) and i checked the speakers and headphones on the front port as well but no sound.
When i plug in the port at the front the sound goes away from motherboard's built in speaker as it suppose to so it can comes from the headphones or speakers but it doesnt. And when i plugin the cable at the back port then the sound still comes from the built in speakers but not from the plugged speakers and headphones as i said in my main post.

Oh so that circular shaped port is for audio? I didn't know that.

Actually i want to make a new build but i m waiting for the pascal hbm card 1080 ti to be precise even if it is not hbm when it releases. Someone selling evga gtx680 super clocked for 120$ and i am trying to bargain lol atleast 80$ or max 90$ considering it being the very old card now.
