Question Question With Network Switch Compatability...

Hey guys so recently I needed to add more ethernet ports to my router since it only supports ONE cable which is pretty bullshit if you ask me, but hey it's a free one from the cable company so who am I to complain.

Anyways, I bought a splitter, which actually didn't work and after some research I found out an old post here that gives an answer that a splitter won't actually work for a router, but instead a switch will.

Now here's my question:

Will my router support a switch? Or do I need to buy a new router?

If your router will support a DHCP pool of IP addresses, instead of a single internal IP address (which would be really bizarre, in my experience), then you can use a switch with it.

So yes, a common unmanaged switch will work.

Ah u cheapskates. When a proper switch is only like usd$20, just do it properly dude. Splitter=vodoo.
