Questions about Beastfighters (may be spoily)

Anyways my question is how do beastfighters get there DV up? I was
playing a PC who went through the UD to floor 5 or so and found a
Crystal Tower Shield. Of course I couldn't use it 2 floors later I ran
into a tension room full of ghosts. Being lv. 10 or so I lured the
ghosts 1-2 at a time down the stairs. My DV was only 20 or so
nautrually on Normal Tactics. I was a drakeling with at least 15 or so
Dex.... Also a few weeks ago I remember reading a Topic about Monks
receiving DV penalties when wearing anything but Shirt of the Saints or
Elven Chain Mail or other light armor.. Does this apply to
Beastfighters too?? Thanks in advance...

No it doesn't. It's not really a penalty that monks get when wearing
heavy armour. Instead, they get a special *bonus* when not wearing heavy
armour. Beastfighters don't get that bonus.

Answering your general question, there aren't really any tricks for
getting a good DV. You will need to pick armour with good DV and raise
your Dexterity. A value of 15 is ok in the early game, but later on you
might want to raise it to about 25 with herbs. Beastfighters are a class
that deals a lot of damage and takes a lot of damage, so in general low
DV isn't that much of a problem. You just need to be careful with
monsters with special attacks.

In situations like the one you described, good tactics include
* hit-and-run,
* using wands, and
* avoiding the fight.
