Salutations. Currently I have a DDR4/AM4 build (Ryzen 7 3700X), and I wish to upgrade to a DDR5/AM5 build in the near future. The CPU i have in mind is Ryzen 7 7800X3D, since I've heard it's one of the best CPUs at the moment, paired together with a B650 MSI Tomahawk motherboard and Kingston 32GB Dual Channel RAM.

My questions are:
  • Are there any essential tips to know before I buy this CPU?
  • Is it as good as people say it is?
  • How good does it perform in video editing softwares like Premiere Pro?
  • Is the fact that it has an "3D" in its name make it more special?
  • Do I need to update my future motherboard's bios to be able to use it properly?
  • Will I be able to install my 360 AIO watercooler (currently used on an AM4 Motherboard)? On the website that I bought the cooler, they said it's AM5 compatible, but they didn't provide any special mounts or accessories.
  • Do I need to install Windows 11 to get the full potential of this AM5 build?
  • What temps should I expect from this CPU?
My current specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
CPU Cooling: Id Cooling Frostflow 360 AIO
Motherboard: B550 Tomahawk
RAM: 32 GB, DDR4, 3200 MHz (Patriot Viper)
SSD: 2 TB, M.2, Gen 3 SSD (XPG)
GPU: RX 6700XT
PSU: Gigabyte P850GM 850W Modular Power Supply 80 Plus Gold
Chassis: Deepcool Matrexx 50 ADD-RGB 4F
OS: Windows 10
Monitor: Asus TUF Gaming VG28AQML1A (27", 1440p, 260 Hz)

It's best for gaming in games and programs that can make use of extended CPU cache and that's most of modern AA games. that's what "3D" signifies. More of fast cache memory added on top of cores, hence 3D.
You nay need to update BIOS after installation depending on date MB was made, the 3D part need more consideration.
Holes in MB spread is same as with AM4 boards so in theory all AM4 compatible cooler should fit. Only problem with AM5 Ryzen is that CPU has thicker IHS, stands a bit higher so some coolers may need taller spacers and screws.
Yes, windows 11 are a bit more compatible and factory tuned to most recent CPUs including Intel.
Although more powerful, Am5 Ryzen are also more power efficient than previous models so you can expect same temps as comparable AM4.

I have 30°C in idle with my Ryzen 7 3700X, and 50°-60° in full load. You're saying imma have the same temps with Ryzen 7 7800X3D? 😳
