Hello. I have some questions about my motherboard. I'm not that experienced in computer building. Does my motherboard support 3 case fans? I don't understand the difference between "PWR_FAN" and "SYS_FAN". Also, I don't exactly know/understand the use of the 8 pin power on motherboards. Whats the use for? Is it CPU power?

If I remember right, the 'pwr_fan' doesn't provide any power at all. Some psu's have a connector that plugs into it, and all it does is provide information to the motherboard on the PSU's fan rpms so they can be monitored.

You are correct about the 8 pin connector, it is supplying power to your CPU.

Looks like you have 2 system fan headers according to the owner's manual here: http://download.gigabyte.ru/manual/mb_manual_ga-990fxa-ud5_v.3.x_e.pdf

Thank you. This has helped a lot. But now I run into another problem. I want to have three fans in my system. Is it possible to still do this with only 2 fan headers?
