*This was originally posted in Home Theater, but I did not get an answer to the questions that I posed. I asked to have the post moved to here, but since it was not I had to repost it*

I have recently purchased a Samsung 55" (JU6400) 4K TV and I just have a few questions about it. I have it set up as a "monitor" but it is my TV with a HTPC. So a few things I have noticed that I would love some clarification on whether I'm doing something wrong or if it is the TV. The TV has apps installed and I noticed while watching netflix (Escape from LA) on the TV's built in apps it looked incredible. For a older movie it looked great, super crisp and clear, HD. When watching netflix on my computer on the other hand (via chrome browser) it looked exactly as to be expected, not as detailed, not as crisp, DVD quality at best. My computer's resolution was set to 4K at the time and I believe I am in the only HDMI port on the TV that supports 4K. If I watch a 4K video on youtube it looks great and is in 4K best I can tell. I am just wondering why that is the case, is it some settings that I've set that are doing that or something else completely. I understand that apps are apps (this was brought up in the other post). I have EVGA GTX 970 SSC and an i5 4th gen. I spoke to a buddy about this and he stated that he has the same issue where if he is using netflix from his xbox one it is not as good looking as using the built in apps on the TV. I've noticed that certain settings on the TV are not available to adjust when the input is through my computer while more setting options are available when I'm using the built in apps or no input at all. I have not found a "PC" mode, I have set it to "Game" mode. I'm certain my drivers are pretty much up to date, minus the one they released or will release for Just Cause 3. Do I need to adjust the settings in the GPU via Nvidia's programs or does it not matter?

My other question is when I set my resolution to 4K I've noticed a little bit of mouse lag at random intervals. Sometimes while playing some 4K videos, other times when not doing much at all. I've read through the forums and have found other similar issues and I have tried some of their solutions and it has helped a little, but nothing solid. I've read that if the anti juddering settings are maxed this can help, but when I am on my PC the option is not available to change, but if I am on a different input it is available. Is this due to the extra strain placed on my rig while rendering 4K resolution?

My final question is when I set the desktop resolution to 4K and play Fallout 4 regardless of the settings I place it at (4K, 1440, 1080) I am capped at 30fps regardless of the settings. The frame rates will stay consistent around 30 but performance will change between settings. Same if I change my desktop resolution to 1440. But if set my desktop to 1080 then I at least get 60fps if the game is set to 1080. I was just wondering why this was the case. When setting my desktop resolution to 4K I was hoping it'd downscale it if the game's options were set to 1080. Is it because my desktop resolution is set higher and therefore the game, even at lower settings, is still "displaying" them at a higher resolution then is selected?

Any information would be appreciated, I had to set my TV to 1080 just so I could tolerate playing some games. My goal would be to leave my desktop resolution at 4K and to be playing games at 1080 without having to switch back and forth...oh yeah to troubleshoot the issues the mouse and have netflix display as amazingly from my computer as it does with TV's built in apps.

coupl;e things, what HDMI port are you plugged into?

HDMI IN (STB/DVI) ? That one?

You could also want to Set Edit Device Type to PC for that input.

You GPU should be capable of HDCP 2.2 to allow 4K netflix, but for now, it's not displaying. I have a feeling you are only getting 30fps right now and not 60.

Are you using a hdmi high speed cable for your pc as well?

So in short, good cable, use the STB/DVI input, set the TV to Device Type PC for that input, and then you should be able to see in the NVidia control panel what resolution and what hz you are on and check on HDCP status in tehre as well.

Their TV and GPU both support HDMI 2.0 and thus 60fps, so don't lead them down a different port path when they do have the correct ports.

Thanks for the help. I know I'm not watching 4K movies on netflix, but why does it "upscale" the video like that in the app and not through my PC? That's what I'm curious about.

I have 16GB of RAM that are not being utilized when I experience the intermittent mouse lag, but I have noticed some odd CPU usage spikes. But also I can be watching a 4K video and not experience any lag...it may also be where I positioned my mouse receiver/dongle cause I'm on my couch and it not have been getting the greatest signal at the port I put it in. I'll have to check again.

I do have it going to the HDMI STB/DVI port. And how do I "Set Edit Device Type to PC"? Is that through my TV settings or my PC? I couldn't find a "PC" mode on my TV settings. I do have a high speed HDMI cable...mine were so old I don't think they were even 1.4. So I just checked the control panel and it says at 1440 and 4K it is only have 30hz...So I dunno if that means at that resolution I can only get 30fps, is that why when I have my desktop resolution set to 1440 or 4K games top out at 30fps even when I have the game setting resolution at 1080, because the TV cannot physically do 60fps while set to the high resolution? Oh and the HDCP status says that it's compatible, both TV/GPU.

If the whole 30hz deals caps my FPS (which would be good to know) I can understand. The TV isn't top of the line by any means and I didn't know that was tied to the FPS (if that's the case) cause I didn't exactly do the greatest research about 4K gaming with this TV.

WOW, haha, I didn't even know Netflix had a different streaming plan for UHD...well I do not have that so that does answer somethings...but can you guys explain how the app still "upscales" the video. How do I get my browser to do that? Is it the TV settings? Cause on my computer input the TV setting is on "game" mode while on every other input it's on Dynamic, but I thought that mainly fiddled with the color/saturation/brightness/etc.

You should have 60hz available.

Press the SOURCE button to switch between external devices connected to the TV.
● Options
To view the Options menu, press the button. The functions that appear in the Options menu
can include any of the following:
" The connector names may vary depending on the product.
– Edit Device Type: Changes the types of the external devices. Select an external device to
change. For example, you can use an HDMI cable to designate a computer connected to the
TV as PC. You can also use a HDMI-to-DVI cable to designate an AV devices as DVI Devices.

That's how to switch to PC.

HDCP 2.2 is supported only by the TV's HDMI (MHL) port. HDCP is short for "High bandwidth
Digital Content Protection" and is used for video copyright protection.

Interesting, maybe you need to use that input and set to PC. So confusing the manual, it doesn't even list the HDMI ports, numbers, capabilities, just brief reference to them.

Thanks again, I still wasn't sure how to get to the options in input, but after reading the manual it was there, I feel kinda silly. But I did change the input option to PC. It hasn't made a noticeable difference. I still am unable to change it to 60hz when I'm on 1440 or 4K just 30hz is available. I do get 60hz when I'm on 1080 though. Here is a link to the TV I have:
http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/UN55JU6400FXZA
But it doesn't give any real information regarding the refresh rates and even all the sellers I looked at didn't list the 4K refresh rate. I did find out a little more about that whole netflix issue and it does state that it has UHD up-scaling for lower quality videos, but why won't it do that for my PC? Is it because is mere displaying what the PC is inputting, while when streaming from its own apps/tv it utilizes its own ability to up-scale the video?

So getochkn, should I be able to run 1440 and 4K@60hz?
