Questions regarding motherboard.

Hi, not sure if this is where this belongs but i just have a question for someone with more knowledge than me on this. I'm wanting to get a ATH700X headphone and want the surround sound capabilities, but i've been hearing about needing a sound card. So my question is do i need to buy a sound card if i have a Z170-A motherboard (It says it has a 7.1 surround sound port) would i still need to buy a sound card and if so which one should i get for that type of headset. I'm open for any suggestions, even if it means looking into other headphones to get 7.1 capabilities. Thanks for your help!
