Hello!
I experience stutter and slight image freezes in most games.
My specs:
- Intel I7 6700k with Noctua NHD15S cooler
- MSI Z170A gaming M5 motherboard
- MSI GTX 1080 TI Gaming X 11 GB GPU
- 16 GB Ram 2400 hz
- SSD
- Superflower Leadex 650w psu 80+ Gold
- 60 Hz, 1080p monitor.
I`ve already tried most troubleshooting options, like changing GPUs (i first experienced stutter on a MSI GTX 1070), changing the CPU cooler (now it doesn`t go over 74 Celsius), running games on different hard drives, changing Nvidia Control panel settings, disabling all background apps, placing RAM in different slots, etc.
I suspect 2 things may be wrong:
- When i got my first GPU, the GTX 1070, I tried using the OC option in MSI afterburner. But by mistake I selected the CPU OC option, and when the system restarted it wouldn`t boot. The power was on but I got no image, so I had to reset the CMOS. Could this have damaged my Mobo or Cpu? After that I tried playing Deus Ex Mankind Divided but I got a couple of freezes during the first minutes of gameplay. System wasn`t responding so I had to restart each time. After that I updated BIOS and the GPU drivers and the problem went away. I still got slight 1 second freezes but then it would run normal.
- Another reason could be the monitor. It`s a pretty cheap ASUS, 1080p 60 hz. With v-sync off, get screen tearing, and in most games FPS varies anywhere from 50 - 120+ at random times, so I think maybe these variations cause the stutter. I also get the slight image freezes, maybe 1 every hour or two. With V sync on, I also get micro stutter when I move the camera around, and the same image freezes. I want to get a G sync 144 Hz monitor, but before I spend the money I would like to know, would it really solve my problem? I know it would eliminate the tearing and the v-sync stutter, but what about the image freezes? Could this also be caused by the monitor, imput lag maybe?
What do you guys think: Cpu, Mobo, Monitor, PSU maybe? Which would be the safest bet? Thanks
