Quick questions about fans

Can i wire 2 or maybe 3 case fans to a single pin? ALSO what tipe of pin should i use for a led stripe, usb, still fan pin or what? thx

you can use a fan splitter cable to connect more than 1 fan to 1 motherboard header

5v led strip or 12v?

and some motherboards now have the standard 4 pin header for led strips on them--12v ones

have ran 3 and 4 off 1 header

a lot depends on your motherboard and how much draw the fans are

a lot of new motherboards also have a high amp header now

what connector is on the led strip?

is it one of those ones you see cheap on ebay with the remote control and the controller box?

it's a stripe of few blue LEDs and it has 2 wires on each part, + and -. I didnt know what connector to put to them

if its 12v and just has the positive and negative wire

i usually just use a molex connector and power them off the psu

making sure you put the positive where the yellow would normally go

not where the red would

and the negative goes to where black would go

Yes could use a SATA if you want

just to add

the reason i use molex is i have a load of old male to female molex pass throughs from the days when fans were all molex powered

so just cut the female end off

remove 2 wires and pins

and you are left with a molex with 1 x 12v+

and 1 x ground/-

you cant open up sata connectors to remove 2 wires so end up having to cut 2 off which isnt as tidy a job as molex

well, i wanted to use sata because i currently use molex pins that i have :-s, but i looked carefully at mobo and it has a connector with 3 pins like those for fan but it is even PWR_LED and i thought i can use that one

PWR_LED is normally for the led/light on your pc case that comes on when you turn the pc on

it is called "F_PANEL *pause* PWR_LED" and are those 3 pins, not the white thing in the left, that is FDD

yes thats for the on/off light on your pc

last question, will it work with a 3 pin connector right? i dont want to damage the mobo, if it doesnt, i will just stick to a usb wire or a 12V charger, thanks for the patience and have a nice day 😀

usb is only 5v

not sure if that power-led is 5v or 12v

yes could use a charger though means you need to run the wire from outside the pc to inside
