Hi,

Yesterday, I was browsing the websites I usually check every day and my browser kept redirecting me to other websites and I had frozen issues. I ran the free MalwareBytes program I have on my computer and found "Pup.optional.Bytefence" in the results and I removed them. But my computer kept freezing and I couldn't even open the start button. I ran chkdsk and there was no issue then I decided to run a diagnostic and got the result :

Quick test failed - failure "94XNK9-7TB8K7-XD7WLK-601T03 Product ID : P1A95UA#ABA"

Actually I had other issues last week and ran the same diagnostic and it passed...

Is the hard drive really dead and I need to replace it? Right now I'm trying to do a reset to factoring settings with recovery manager to see if that could help to resolve these issues and fix the system files if they were damage by Bytefence and the screen "getting things ready - this won't take long" keeps running for a while... My laptop is a HP Notebook - 15-af131dx Energy Star - Windows 10.

I hope you can help me and give me some advices. Thanks.

Serge

It appears your hard drive is failing judged by the answers here about getting errors on quick test: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c01443317
Quick test relates to HDD as its only thing in diagnostics with that name. I expect 94XNK9-7TB8K7-XD7WLK-601T03 is the code for your hard drive (it doesn't help me figure out brand though) as P1A95UA#ABA is the code for your laptop

I would backup anything on hdd and buy a new one. It might even fix the freezing problems.
