That's the compartment. As you can see I'm already considering removing the top board.
In the back there are holes left and right for cable management / airflow.

I've read the MSI 5070 Ti's are supposed to be super quiet even while gaming / benchmarking.
If I'm going for the Lancool 207 case there will also be two fans in the bottom right beneath the GPU, which will hopefully lessen the RPM's on the GPU aswell.
If I'm going for a silent case, like the Antec Flux SE it will hopefully lessen the noise that escapes the case enough so it won't bother me.

Besides while gaming there will be sound coming from the boxes most of the time anyways. Would still be neat if the setup stays as silent as possible.

Is that box part of a desk?
A wider photo might help.
I would be worried about heat build up.
Without an avenue for heated component air to exit upward, the compartment will get toasty. Your feet also.
It would help to affix sound dampening pads to the sides of the compartment.
Do you really need to use that box?
Could you simply place the pc against the wall and move the box a bit to the right?

It's actually part of the desk so I can't move it.
The heat should be able to exit to the sides at the back and then move up I guess?
I should probably consider dampening pads/mat, that's a good point, thanks.

I'm planning on getting a new desk at some point but I ain't sure when that's going to be. Will probably be one that's adjustable in height and the case will then stand on it's own, either on the desk or beneath it.

After reading through the entire post, here's my two cents worth of suggestions on your build...
Based on your desk constraints I would suggest an AIO instead of a ton of case fans that will just be circulating warm/hot air. The AIO I'm using is whisper quiet (in my signature) and I don't even know my computer is powered on even while gaming - CIV VII and KC😀 II mainly.

Thanks for reading trough the thread and for your input. I've tried to avoid the topic of AIO's for now but after your suggestion I looked into it.

AIO's seem to be superior regarding temps and some are more quiet than Air Coolers but they come with some downsides:

- After about fiveish years the liquid will have evaporated to a point where the cooling effect diminishes, some can be refilled others have to be thrown away
- Possible corrosion issues
- Good AIO's probably won't start leaking but it's someting about liquids in my PC that I just can't wrap my head around

I like the idea that my cooler can survive several builds with maybe switching a faulty fan in between.

That's why I will probably go with an air cooler. I'm still not sure which one though. Still got these on my list:

be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 5

I'm kind of on an impasse in terms of cooler because I think I have to first figure out which case I'm going with and regarding the Lancool 207 what the maximung height is now. (180mm on manufacturer website vs. 167mm in the GamersNexus review)

I'm leaning towards the Noctua coolers, but I haven't fully looked into the different coolers yet.

As I was looking for a NH-D15 G2 chromax.black version, I stumbled upon this statement by Noctua:
"Unfortunately, we had to delay the release date of the NH-D15 G2 chromax.black until Q3 of 2025 as we had to go through an additional refinement and validation cycle of the injection moulding tools and this has caused a delay that also impacts the black version of the cooler that utilises these fans." (https://www.reddit.com/r/Noctua/comments/1dzj64a/will_noctua_release_nhd15_g2_in_chromaxblack/)
This statment let's me believe that the standard version has a problem as well, but on their compatibility site for the 9800X3D it's still advertised as the best performing cooler. Maybe after they fix the problem it will be even better.

I understand your concerns, but they really aren't valid in the grand scheme of things. Do you drive your car without changing the oil? No, you do routine maintenance so it keeps running. If you think of the computer in a similar manner, the AIO is a replaceable product (if you can't change the liquid) in 3 years. Buy another. The positives outweigh the negatives in my mind - which is silent operation and the coolest temps possible. That alone is worth its price for 3 years.
