Bought a xFractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl w/ USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Silent PC Computer Case...it is not as advertised. Humming and rattling, a small shake quiets things down for a while. My thinking it is the front case fan.

If I replace the fan with an after market...what are the chances it will smooth things out??

I had the same problem... Installing a second fan in the front mount seemed to solve it though. I suppose the second fan absorbs the vibrations. If you have a hot AMD GPU like I do it's a good idea to have a second intake fan anyway.

Pentium...with a video card, so don't really need another fan....just want the stupid vibration noises to stop.

Then get another fan- I'd recommend a Noctua because they have anti-vibration rubber fillings.

I contacted FD, told them the problem. The ask for the serial number from the case, then without hesitation and at no cost sent me a new filter assembly with a new 140mm fan.....problem solved. Now that is customer service...they have won a loyal customer.
