R6 Siege FPS wont go beyond 72 fps GTX 970

Hey guys just started playing Rainbow Six Siege
earlier i had V-Sync disabled
i was getting a good frame rate
100-120
but i was getting stuttering because of high CPU usage
so i turned V-Sync on and now the ingame fps wont go beyond 72
even though in the menus it going up to a full 144Hz

CPU- i5 4690k @4.4 Ghz
GPU- GTX 970

Well that should be enough for it, And I could have fixed you problem by fully reading it last night but I was tired... Okay so VSYNC makes the FPS get locked at a certain amount and can not go any higher then usually 60fps but yours is locked at not going higher then 72. If you were to turn off VSYNC you would be seeing the FPS go higher. Sorry for this having to take so long.

but like i said earlier
keeping v Sync off led to frame rate drops due to CPU usage reaching 100%
fps was not a problem
i was getting a decent fps with v sync off
just the problem of frame rate drops
