I have a Netgear R6220 Router that I love. I am trying to get my phone to connect to a PC so I can use a VR headset to play games. It is the same concept as a Chromecast. I have read that this particular router has wireless isolation hard coded so it can't be done. I have a wireless access point (running DDWRT) lying around that I hooked up thinking I can use it to bypass the isolation stuff. I can't connect through it either. Any ideas as to what I can do to resolve this? thanx in advance

Solution
So see what happens if you plug the pc into the AP with the phone connected to the AP wireless. This would be the same as if you bought a different router and where not using your main one. They would only use the common cable back to the main router to talk to the internet but would talk to each other only on the AP.
That is strange that the wireless isolation can not be disabled. It would work using the AP because that appears to be a ethernet device to the main router. Wireless isolation only protect traffic between wireless devices not between wireless and ethernet. If it did you would never be able to use any form of local server.

Now if you mean you want to connect both device via the AP, that too would work because dd-wrt does have the ability to disable isolation...I think it is off by default.

Too bad ddwrt is not supported on the 6220.

I would love if DDWRT was supported on the router. I thought it would pick it up off the AP because it would make it a wired device, but it does not. My computer is wired into the network, but the phone is Wifi (obviously). I wish i could get this to work.

That is really strange. That is how guest networks work. It means if you have a device on wireless on your router you can not use lan based printer or mount files from a server or pc connected via ethernet. Does it really work that way.

Still if you connect your computer to the lan on the main router and the phone to the AP then it is going lan to lan on the main router so it should work.

Its weird. Phone can "see" the server (PC), it knows its there. It just can't connect to it. Iv tried Trinus Vr, Intugame VR, Riftcat, and even the Nvidia Gamestream..nothing. they all see the main pc, but can't physically connect.

As a side note, I can access the AP off of my computer, so I know everything (excpet the phone) is talking to each other.
