R7 240 1GB GDDR5 vs 2GB DDR3 for Dual Graphics

Hello there. I have a Desktop with the following specs and want to know which GPU to choose AMONG THESE TWO for the best Dual Graphics gaming experience.

AMD A8-7600 with integrated 1 GB Radeon R7 series graphics
8GB(2×4GB) DDR3 RAM at 1600 Mhz.
500-watt power supply.

The AMD website suggests that I use a discrete Radeon R7 240 card for Dual Graphics.
So do I choose the 2GB DDR3 version or the 1GB GDDR5 version?

I know that DDR5 is way faster than DDR3 but since my RAM is at DDR3 hence the iGPU will operate at DDR3 and might bottleneck a DDR5 card?

Oh and I'll mainly be gaming at 1280×720 and maybe sometimes at 1366×768 but not above that. Mainly interested in GTA 5, the Assassin's Creed series, Hitman and FIFA.

Sometimes apu +gpu dual graphics is not the best idea,but anyway,the gddr5 version would be much better you are much better going for a r7 260x

@AppleGwava I was reading somewhere that since the iGPU running on DDR3 will be slower, the dedicated DDR5 GPU would have to WAIT for it's slower iGPU counterpart to be ready to render thus diminishing the advantage of it's faster DDR5 memory. Thoughts?

You're still bound with your system ram speed when running dual graphics , there will be no difference between the ddr3/ddr5 cards when paired this way.
Buy the cheapest one - although I'd suggest waiting & buying a better card when you can
Dual graphics only works in 50% of games & even then the performance increase is nowhere near double.

My pet dolphin does not agree with the spelling of my name.Anyways,the Gddr5 version has a slightly higher clock speed though you could just Oc the ddr3 version.At this price point its better to have a higher clock speed than more unused Vram


its better to just get another gpu.At this price point you are better of buying a 2nd hand gpu from newegg,it will do you fine and have better performance than the r7 240.Or you can shell out a abit more to get a gtx750ti,which can and will deliver good framerate

not a smart idea at all, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should


get yourself a gtx 750 ti, its an awesome 720p card

no, you could even get a gtx 950 or rx 460 if you wanted and budget allowed

Will this particular card face much bottleneck due to my CPU?
