Should I get the newer R7 370 or the R9 270? I will be looking to be playing and recording games like Skyrim and Half-Life (though that can run on a potato) at 1080p ultra at 60+fps.
Thanks!

All the r 300 cards are far more money and only offer a few % points of speed maybe 1 to 3 % example r 290 under 250 bucks if you look a r 390 almost 400 bucks why pay for the rebranded ones? If you must wait till the FURY card comes out it should be faster but at a cost of over 600 bucks usd. Besides the 270 is the better card and buy right now!
Its a no brainer since r7 370 = rebadged r7-265, so r9 270 would no doubt be better. In my opinion ,just find any r9 280 if they are still in stock cause they are priced similarly to the r9 270 / 270x and alot better than the 2 cards you have mentioned.

isnt the 370 a rebrand of the 270x?

Of the newly released cards now, r9 390x is actually decent cause -
1.) it has 8gb ram over r9 290 /290x s' 4gb
2.) the operating temperature now is a little over 80 degree Celsius over r9 290 / 290x s' 95 degree celsius previously.

so the $100+ premium over r9 290x seems quite fine to me.

The gaming benchmarks for that card are barely above an overclocked 290x in performance. Not worth it imo for a gaming card.

That's what I said RAZER LOL NO one listens Toms did a big write up on it anyhow just because it has 8 gig ram don't mean its going to be 2x faster there are a lot of 4 gb cards that cant address the full 4 gigs of ram while the same card that has 2 gig is about equal.

the point of more vram is for less stuttering and a lower chance of having your fps being tanked by lack of vram

That is very true but only! if it can access that vram a lot of cards are 4 gig and cant do more then 2 its a ploy in most part to sale a item read up on it also when ddr is slower then gddr also
Also the bigger the bus say 128 vs 256 the 256 is going to be better 99% of the time,,,
