R9 270 still good enough?

Is the R9 270 still good enough or is it time to upgrade to another card? Most games I see it seems to run everything on Ultra but now there are a few like Witcher 3 which seem to only let it run on medium.

With that graphic card you will run witcher 3 on medium or high if running at 1366x768 , you should upgrade since you can get a better graphic card at cheap price , what is youre cpu?

well if you are going to buy one, I would still say yes, so long as you do not need to run the witcher on medium.

the r9 270 is still decent, but yeah, i think it is time for an upgrade, try going crossfire or if you are on a low budget check out the gtx 950

It is suprisingly good for that price and can allow you to play at high 1080p (maybe with the foliage visibility at low and shadows at medium you could have it playing on high)

Main question is how badly you need new GPU, if you can wait few months wait for GPUs on 16/14nm node 2x more performance per watt
If you want go earlier try look for local deals and second hand offer ebay ect. you can get cheap R9 280/7970 R9 285/ R9 290

The R9 270 is ok but often you won't make 60 fps at high settings in a good amount of new titles.

It's ok for medium/high and sure all games will be well playable with the GPU.

Anyway you can always OC your GPU and go close to R9 270X performance * 10-15%

@Robert cook - I don't quite understand what you mean could you clarify

I might wait a few months but hope I don't need a new mobo for the new GPUs in a few months

You will no need new mobo for new GPU 😉
PCIE slots are standard and they will still be in use, but for how long who knows but for sure for next 2-3 years
