R9 280X 3 GB Gigabyte Windforce OC power supply

Hi, wish to know if my corsair vs550 will be able to give power to the gigabyte r9 280x .
My cpu is an amd a8-6600k and my current graphic card is a r7 250x , until now no problems to give power to my current system .

I am planning to have the r9 because I don´t have many budget and I want a graphic card that improves my system for some time until I can invest on a better graphic card and cpu , so i only ask to help me about the power to the R9 , since the gigabyte asks for 600w but I calculated on websites and saw on youtube that the power should be about 500w , as I am a bit confused with this I am asking for opinions here .

This is Guru3D's generic power supply recommendation for the R7 and R9 series:

AMD R9 280X - On your average system the card requires you to have a 550 Watt power supply unit.
AMD R9 280X Crossfire - On your average system the cards require you to have a 750 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

If you are going to overclock GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina.

That's a weak 550 so i would push the CPU / GPU too much and certainly no overclocking

The card may have twin 6-pin cables or a 6 pin and 8 pin, some models might require twin 8 pins

well i am not planning to overclock nothing . i have pci-e express cables to connect to the gpu

Id be more comfy with a 520 watt Seasonic S12 than a Corsair VS 550 but that's tight.

well on youtube videos seems that the PSU can handle this gpu and other gpus so strong as the r9 280x .

I don't use tier lists as I find them unreliable, with many PSUs placed above where they should be ...

But even here, the VS series is way down in tier 4 and that is the better older CWT model

Tier Four - Not exactly the most stable units ever created. Very basic safety circuitry or even thin gauge wiring used. Not for gaming rigs or overclocking systems of any kind. Avoid unless your budget dictates your choice.

Now again, that's the ones made by CWT, you will find HEC down in Tier 5

Tier Five - Avoid IMMEDIATELY. These units are highly unsafe to use. No such protections added, very thin gauge wiring used, false advertising and too much to list. Reference to a higher tiered unit for a better, money saving and a much safer unit. For your safety's sake, please don't order or pick one up for use in your system. These units are a potential fire hazard and could even kill you, let alone your system.

JonnyGuru, PC Perspective, Silent PC Review, Hardware Heaven, [H]ard OCP, AnandTech, Overclock 3D, Tech Power Up, etc .... none of them never, ever reviewed a VS series PSU because their target audience (gamers, enthusiasts and overclockers) would not consider reading it.

The VS series makes the CX series look good.

i always played with my r7 on that psu without problems , I know that is not the best PSU ... well since this r9 is too much powerfull for my psu , you know if the Asus r9 280x is as powerful (in terms of power consuption ) as the gigabyte one ?
