R9 280x Or Gtx 960 For Minecraft

Okay So I'm Looking Into Getting A New Computer, And I Have Invested Vast Amounts Of Time Searching For Which Graphics Card To Buy. I Have Narrowed It Down To Nvidia's Ge-force Gtx 960 Or Amd's Radeon R9 280x.
Both Will Be An Upgrade To My Current Computer But Im Wondering Which Will Be Better For My New Computer.
I Will Be Mainly Playing Minecraft But Do Sometimes Play Other Games, Such As Day Z And Far Cry.
Through What I've Read The Gtx 960 Is Better For Java Games As The Nvidia Drivers Are Better Optimized For Games Like Minecraft However The R9 280x's Extra Vram And Better Reviews Are Looking Rather Good.

Specs:
Intel Core I5 4690k Or I5 4460 (Still Not Sure As I'm Not Going To Be O/cing My Cpu)
8 Gigabytes Of Kingston Hyper X 1866mhz 2x4gb Dims
EVGA's 500w 80+ Bronze

The Psu Can Be Upgraded If Needed.

The gtx 960 is cheaper and even the 2gb version tends to run better than the r9 280x from my research (just got a gtx 960 after comparing to the r9 280x) and there is a 4gb version of the gtx 960 for about $220.

Well, you are really all over the place for games, id advise you go with the stronger of the two cards, the 280x. But have you considered the 380 from AMD? It's far more power efficient than the 280 and very close to as powerful as the EDIT GTX 960 and being on par or slightly surpassing the 960.
