Hi there,

A few months ago I built my first pc and chose to use the r9 280x for my graphics card. In the time from then til' now I have experienced a number of increasingly bad issues. When alt-tabbing out of games I get chequered flickering, in games (such as Dayz) textures distort and flash until my screen is a collage of flickering grass textures, things such as lamp posts in games such as Arma 3 get black boxes around them and above all, the performance is varying, in some games I perform on par with benchmarks and others fall behind 15-20 frames.

System Specs
CPU: i5-4670
Motherboard: Asus H81m-plus
Ram: G-skill 8gb 1600mhz
GPU: Asus r9 280x DCUII TOP
PSU: Corsair CX600m
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2tb

So my question is, why is my gpu acting so?

from what i've read on them, a lot, especially the the DCUII have either faulty memory or a fan the clouts the top of the card producing artifacts like in your picture. I believe it is hardware based (you would possibly know more about the drivers) and resulted in many being RMAed

Hmm, so would it be worth RMAing?

if it's really bad go for it, the only downside is that you take a risk of getting an even worse card and having to go through the cycle again. But if you can deal with the down time and the postage cost it should still be under warranty. But its really a personal choice 😛
