i'm trying to connect three monitors here, one 24inch 1920x1080 (main), a 17inch 1280x1024 (secondary) and a 42inch 1920x1080(media). but i cant seem to get all three of them working simultaneously. none of my monitors have display ports and curently im using DVI except for the 42inch that is connected with HDMI. all three of them get recognised but i cant turn on more than two simultaneously. I'd prefer not to use a display port. is there a way to make this work? I just want to extend desktop to secondary and duplicate main to media.

use an active display port to DVI adapter. that is the only way to do it correctly. you could use an external splitter since the TV/main are the same resolution but its going to cost the same and TVs don't usually play nice and may need separate adjustment which can't be done with a splitter

yeah thought i had to go this way from what i read online. but i read about other people managing to do it.

anyway, do we know why exactly the r9 280x cant do that? it seems pretty silly not to include that in a kind of high end gpu.

no point? sorry if I dont agree. I find a second monitor extremely useful during gaming cause I have spotify skype and browsing there. also its useful during recording a song or using matlab for my university. and the third is just a tv that i have hooked up and i can sit in the couch and watch movies. so i would say that all the mointors full a purpose
