So, I'm buying my gaming pc and want to save a s much money as possible. So game performance wise, Is there a huge difference between the 280x and a 290. I plan on playing games like Battlefield 4 Ultra settings, Metro LL Maxed Out, And Arma 3 Maxed Out (I know Arma 3 is more cpu hungry but I am getting a 8320 and over clocking it to 4.0 or 4.2). Anyways, I want to know the huge differences because If I can save $75 - $100 Ish than I want to.

I have been looking at this: http:// (Google Docs Link)
The creator has not fully filled it in and Is not done, but it seems to be comparing some of the games I plan on playing. Anyways, whats your guys opinion?

there is about a 10fps difference on ultra in games like bf4 when you compare the 290x to the 280x.

you could play on ultra with a 280x perfectly fine if you tweak some settings like reduced AA and manage a stable 60fps but the 290x is definitely the stronger card.

however, the 290x also generates quite a bit of heat and has definite issues with that. the gtx780 and gtx780ti are better options as they run cooler although they also cost more.

if you did get a 290/290x you will want one with the best cooler you can get. i would suggest a triple fan.

if you wanted an alternative without pushing the budget into 780ti levels then i would get the normal gtx780.

I think i will go with a 280x and overclock it as much as possible and then play medium/high settings. I'm going for a bit of a budget but I will end up upgrading to a 780ti in about a year when the price may be a bit lower. Anyways I plan on ordering Thursday if I have no complications and I wanted to see if I could lower the price to get maybe a new keyboard or some case fan upgrades.

Why should I not just go for AMD build? the Intel CPUs are more expensive and so are the mobos to go with them. I'm aiming for A Budget. Besides If I go with the 280x I only sacrafice About 10 frames but if I run medium quality It does not matter too mych

well, if you want to save money, intel will do that in the long run by saving money on electricity, and an i5 4670/90(K) or xeon E3-1230 v2/3 will perform significantly better than a 8320, and allow you to play future cpu-intensive games better.
