R9 280x vs 770 GTX

I'm planning to build a gaming pc on December that would run games on ultra with decent fps,on 1080p Monitor.Right now,I'm Stuck between 770 GTX and the R9 280x GPU.My budget is 340$ for the GPU...

280x if you plan on one card, 770 if you plan on sli in the future, I find nvidia drivers are so much better for multi gpu configurations personally(just my opinion) but when it comes down to performance, the 280x is a bit better, I recommend going the way of either the HIS or ASUS cards.

ive had 0 problems with my 7970's and driver issues. go for the 280x and yes the msi or asus DCII

770 seems like a solid card,But the 280x,I'm not sure if it's as stable as Nvidia. However, benchmarks show that 280x gains up to 10 more AVG fps in some games..

well since the 280x is the same thing as a 7970ghz ive had my CF 7970's since pretty much launch and not 1 hicup.

You would be better off waiting a month or so to save up an extra $60 for the R9-290 but if you can't wait, the HD 7970 is the way to go. My twin Gigabyte Windforce HD 7970 OC cards are flawless and you get 3 free high-end games per card.

Spoken like one who doesn't use crossfire. If crossfire is so unstable, then why are my twin Gigabyte HD 7970s performing flawlessly in crossfire? Oh yeah, that's right, AMD fixed crossfire over three months ago but nobody gave you the memo.

Preach it man, but don't leave out the Gigabyte Windforce cards, they work great as well.

Yeah funny thing about that eh? AMD fixes Crossfire 3 months ago and the scaling just skyrockets. 😉

Yup, my HD 7970s are the same, not a single hiccup.

Well then the answer is simple isn't it? Get the HD 7970 which (for whatever reason, since they're the same cards) is perfectly stable compared to its R9-280X twin. I read the overclock.net forums. They're blaming defective cards that they should be sending back for RMA on driver issues. There is nothing wrong with the drivers. If there were, I'd be having issues too because the R9 cards use the same drivers as the HD 5xxx, 6xxx and 7xxx cards. It's funny how people get these "driver problems" but I never do. Drivers can make cards do funny things but they're always industry-wide, not specific to a few yokels. If there were a driver issue, I'd know about it because I'd be experiencing it. Since I'm not, there is no driver issue. These are defective cards and they're blaming the drivers. It's like some other poster on here who says that crossfire is crashing Far Cry 3 and BF4. Funny, I own Far Cry 3 and I finished the game 2 days ago. I couldn't have done that if crossfire was crashing Far Cry 3 every few minutes like he claims. LOL

The 7970 drivers are official release, yet the 280x are still in beta, so I'd have to say that you are getting ahead of yourself a little.
I have the 280x and it is unstable at the moment, but on the other hand the card has been out for no more than 3 weeks. Hopefully the drivers come out of beta soon.
