R9 280x with gtx 650 as dedicated PhysX card?

yes, you can, BUT it requires hacked drivers, as physx turns itself off if it detects a non nvidia GPU (I think it's ok with intel ones though). Therefore it's liable to having whatever tricks are used to get round it turned off in an update.

PhysX requires ONE nvidia GPU.

Hybrid physx requires using old hacked drivers. It is not recommended. If you want physx just get one nvidia card

But to answer your question, a GTX 650 would pair nicely with a 280x, IF you can get the hybrid drivers setup.

If you want it easy just buy nvidia card. But If you already have that 280X and still want PhysX.....go buy nvidia card

In the past there are hacked driver to make it work but i don't know it the team behind the hacked driver still updating thier works.

280x gets 30fps max settings dying light.... and its £150... gtx 650 gets like 10fps and is £100... gtx 970 gets 72 fps and is £250...
