[SOLVED] R9 280X

Got this card second hand from CEX, worked fine when I installed it, but when I installed the GPU drivers, I just gave these blue lines and the screen turned black. I have a 500w psu but almost all places said it was fine. I had a GTX 950 before.

This link suggests a 600w psu for your R9-280:

Your previous GTX950 needed 380w.

Seasonic is excellent quality, but may not be quite up to the job under gaming load.
But, so long as you could connect the required 6 and 8 pin cables, it should at least get you going.

At idle, a graphics card will use much less power than under load.
If your failure was when nothing else was going on, I would suspect an issue with the driver install.

Possibly, the previous nvidia drivers were complicating things.
Try again, removing all nvidia drivers with ddu.

Install the r9-280 drivers which you should download directly from amd.

If/when you get going, do a graphics stress test.
If there is a failure, you may need to lower the voltage on the card to run or replace the psu.

Thank you, it worked, ish. We're a little closer to solving this. I uninstalled it all with the software you gave me, and it worked, tried to play Rust a while and it worked no problem, tried to install drivers again and..now we're back to square one, even if I try to remove said drivers, it still happens. Not sure what to do. Because even under load, the GPU was fine.

Bought a new power supply, cooler master mwe 700w. Got further, managed to get the drivers to restart the pc and just as the drivers were about to install, the pc went to a black screen. Now it goes straight to a black screen when booting.
