R9 290 - 3 Monitor Eyefinity Setup Query

Well, for the past few weeks I've been thinking to setup an EYEFNINTY with my R9 290.

Until recently when I got to know that to form an EYEFINITY, one must have an ACTIVE DP.

But just a few moments back, a friend of mine stated that the hawaii gpus can run eyefinity with 2*DVI + 1HDMI with their new update i suppose.

So, I'm a little confused with the above mentioned info.

In short, will an eyefinity work with 2xDVI + 1HDMI or is it mandatory to use 1Active DisplayPort to run eyefinity?

i am using an r9 270x and i use a 2 way eyefinity with one hdmi and a dvi. for 3 way you have to be using a displayport tho
