R9 290 and R9 290X Question

How much of a difference is there between the R9 290 and the R9 290X? I'm considering Crossfiring the 290 down the road and I don't know if the performance of a 290X is justified by its price. Should I buy a 290X right now or a R9 290 and then another later for Crossfire?

Also, what is better between these two cards? Sapphire R9 290 4GB Vapor-X or Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 4GB Windforce?

290 xfire will cream one 290x.

290 is the better deal. The vapor-x is the better card in my opinion. However, I find it a little more expensive than what the other 290's are going for right now.

The 290 have lower core and less Texture Units then the 290x but the different in performance is about 8%.
You could just buy a cheaper 290 with a good cooler like asus and xfx and overclock to 290x level of performance.
