r9 290 and r9280x black screen

I was wondering if I should get the 290 or 280x as they seem to have a problem with black screening your pc? Either one offers adequate enough performance for me, so I wan't to go with the more reliable one. I'm looking at going with the vaporx model from sapphire. Thanks!

I have been using a HIS 280X and never get issues. I do not think either has a black screen issue.
