R9 290 on HP Pavilion p6-2022uk

Hi Guys,

I have a PC "HP Pavilion p6-2022uk" which i have installed a AMD R9 290 with a 750w power supply. If i connect the old gpu i can get monitor working but when i put the amd card i see fans are working but no display at all only black screen...

what might be?

MB Foxcon 2ABF 8GB DDR3 RAM i3 2120 and new 750W power supply.

i have updated the bios to 7.16 rev a which is latest but didn't change anything..

so what connection are you using on the 290 ? dvi hdmi or DP ? have you reset the bios to defaults?? i assume yes when you updated it...

Tried with VGA, HDMI and same... i can't enter bios because i can't see a sh1t no display maybe i can go with the other card to bios and rest ... any other solution?

My r9 290 works in the bios perfectly on a few different motherboards. Do you have multiple pice slots to try it in a different slot?
Is there any bios options regarding onboard graphics etc? Did you reset the bios ?

i just reset it and didn't change anything, only 1 PCIe port available on mobo.

And just to check you have both the 6 and 8 pin pcie power connectors on? It will boot with just the 6 afaik it only uses the 8 once you start gaming.. but it might not be getting enough power

i tried all combinations with power cable no help... i think this mobo doesn't support this GPU will try to buy a new mobo.

ok never plug the 8 pin ( oe 4+4) EPS one for the motherboard in anything else..
