R9 290 sound card conflict

I had just purchased a R9 290. Before discovering my psu was not supplying the card with sufficient power, I had found that after installing the card along with Catalyst v14.4 the onboard audio on my GPU was conflicting with my Audigy 2 zs. Even after disabling the sound card on my GPU the sound blaster refused to put out any sound. I need help resolving this issue because I would hate to have to game with no sounds. I'm not sure, but I do believe the conflict could be happening because I'm using an HDMI cable instead of DVI. Cheers

If you are using the HDMI port on the video card then physically uninstall the sound card and let it rest for a bit. The sound card can't pass audio through the video card or its HDMI port.

Thx for the help. Found out I was using a faulty pci port in my motherboard though
