Hello guys, having a huge issue with my GPU. Best way to show this issue would be to check out the video I made on it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCWy_DlDrBQ (watch at 1.5 speed to save your time)

This is copied and pasted from my post on /r/buildapc

What is your parts list?

Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive.

Turned my computer on sleep mode one night woke up and it turned on however with no display. I found out it was something up with my R9 290, when it was in sometimes when powering it I would get 1 long beep and 3 short beeps which I found out it was something to do with a bad GPU or bad RAM. Graphics card still runs with fans on but not receiving any display.

List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem.

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCWy_DlDrBQ - Took out graphics card and use onboard graphics.

Currently using a GT 340 in x16 PCIe slot - working fine

Used a different PCIE slot - issue still there

Used this power supply tester to check PCIE power cables and power supply - No issues with PSU

Ran MemTest for 1hr and 30 mins results here - Showed that the RAM is all good

Contacted Overclockers for an RMA and they accepted and I sent away the card however the technician said it booted into windows and worked, screenshot. - Card sent back to me, issue still there.

Used Display Driver Uninstaller to delete all AMD drivers

Reset BIOS using Clear CMOS button on MB

Provide any additional details you wish below.

I no longer get beeps when I turn on PC with R9 290 installed which is odd.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tried resetting bios and I've got the most up to date bios. I'm going to go to a friends house today or tomorrow and test the GPU there. If it doesn't work that means overclockers were lying? And if it does work then the issue just got more complicated.

Alright, so I tested the GPU in my friends computer and it did not work. Which I don't know what to think because the tech said it worked for him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ No idea what now.

Did you make sure the other computer has a power supply good enough to run the 290? That card needs a pretty good one. Make sure all power cables were in it.

If you did, make a video of you testing the system and bring that as proof that it did not work. Although they may be testing it with a higher end power supply and motherboard than what you have so the card may be good and you are just trying it in systems that can't run that card.
