R9 290x and R9290, compatable or not?

A r9 290x should work with a r9 290 crossfire, but I can't find an article to to link saying they will.

Sabertooth 990FX Motherboard.

R9 290x Graphics card..

750W PSU

I would like to know if I can crossfire the 290x with the 290 without problems.

Officially, no, you can't Crossfire an R9 290 and R9 290X. I suspect this is because they have slight variations on the Hawaii architecture.

However, some users here have apparently done it successfully.

The real question is, should you? Crossfire compatibility is very hit and miss, not to mention the increased heat and power consumption. You're going to need some serious airflow and a beefy PSU.
