R9 390 or GTX 970

Upgrading my PC tomorrow and buying the parts and need help deciding what to buy.
GTX 970 or R9 390

NOW! I dont just want a R9 390 because it out performs it in everything. I want a graphics card that can play any game at 1080p with a solid 60fps while recording AND still want the card to stay cool and not need any extra fans, cooling, etc you get the point. I want one of these cards... that does good IN EVERYTHING! Gaming, cooling, etc! Thanks guys.

I would recommend using the 390 with a bigass cooler like the windforce cooler. this will keep it cool while offering the best performance. however, if you play a lot of physics-based games like space engineers, go for an Nvidia card. it will cost a bit more but is a lot better at running these games. otherwise, I would recommend the 390.

I like playing shooters like H1Z1, CS:GO, GTAV, and etc. The only space game I have it Universal Sandbox 2

Because the R9 390 performs better overall, and vRAM is pretty important for FPS games. And then there is the whole 3.5GB vs. 4GB vRAM thing with the 970.

The R 290 AND r 390 are almost the same card in every sense but the great thing about those 2 cards is they overclock like a mother and when The r 290 and 970 came out they traded blows with each other if you have ample power go with the R390 it has all of its ram unlike the 970 which should of been called the 3.5 .5 card...

^Yes. The only reason why the GTX 970 was considered "The Card" for 1080p was because it used less power and ran cooler.

Will a 750w power supply do the trick?

For sure. That will be plenty. An 850w will give you enough for 2-way xFire, but if you aren't interested in that, then a 750w will be plenty. A quality 650w unit would be good.

Each card will go up in temp as you play games that are GPU intense. That will make the fans run harder and louder. Depending on your PC case it may dampen the fan db level. At that point even if one is louder then other your main area of focus is the performance. Go with the faster card at this point.

I think that's because most people view the 3.5 + 0.5 GB vRAM on the GTX 970 as false advertising. I personally view it as such.

what I meant were physics games in general, not just space games. doesn't look like you need a 970 then. I would go for the 390 if I were you.
