Hello all, recently I was playing a game when my pc just black screen and froze.. I thought nothing until it did it again 20 min later. And again.... so I checked my temps and thought maybe it was time to replace my thermal paste for my graphics card. I did it and now my fans won’t spin and gpu won’t work... the overclock light is on tho I am now using my on board graphics. Any help I would appreciate as I don’t have any money to buy a new one and I need to work on this one.
I tried taking the graphics card out and reseating I took it apart and made sure no paste was where it shouldn’t be. I reset cmos also..
PC SPECS:
Motherboard: MSI Z77A GD65 Gaming
CPU: intel core i7 3770k 3.5ghz ivy bridge 22nm
GPU: sapphire nitro Radeon r9 390x
HD: SSD
Windows 10 64bit

Welcome to the fourms!

I'd recommend first just making that the card is fully inserted into the board and also checking the PCIe connector is clean. Try another PCI lane
Make sure the GPU power supply is fully inserted (if applicable)
Is Windows detecting the board in device manager? Just because the fans aren't spinning doesn't mean it's dead.

Good luck!

Update I tried the other pci slot still nothing. Tried my spare graphics card and it works. But tried plugging in my card again and nothing worked. And it does not detect it in device manager 🙁

Back in the beginning when your card started to have issues are you sure the fans at that time were working on the 390x ? and before you took apart.

Just asking, after new thermal paste that the fan Did get plugged in on card and correctly. If so could it have been pinched putting the cooler back on?

Yes the fans were working verified that before i took it out. and i made sure the fans were plugged in properly a few times.
