My 5750 card have same problems. I tried everything, even to update the mobo bios to latest version(F11 for gigabyte MA78GM-S2H). After this update the games cracsh immediately, I cannot play event few secodns. I downgraded the mobo bios to initial version F5 and it is working more better, I can play a hour till I get a blackscreen. How is it possible that a newer version of bios to cause more problems that an old one?

I have a HD 4770 750M 512MB DDR5 DUAL DVI TV PCI-E and am experiencing the same crash many others are. I play age of empires 3 (a 5 year old game btw) and that card should have no problems running it. I have crashed in menu screens and in game. Last night I played around ten games straight without experiencing a crash, today I can't even finish one game without it crashing. This is my second card the first I had to RMA because it experienced the same exact problem. It first lags but I can still hear sound and move my mouse, then my mouse freezes, and the sound freaks out and plays the same sound over with a horrible loud buzzing noise. Next, the screen turns to the grey screen many of noted for a second and then immediately after the screen goes black and I have to hit the restart button on the monitor. I've tried working with XFX over the phone but they blame something in my system and not the card because they say its almost impossible for me to receive two bad cards. It crashes randomly it seems but only when running a game.
I have a very new build of great quality products so I don't know what the problem could be.

What I am running:
I have upgraded drivers to 10.3 on the 4770/
I am running Windows 7 64-bit
AMD Athlon II X3 435 Rana 2.9GHz 3 x 512KB L2 Cach
ASRock M3A770DE AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD
CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600
and have a DVI cable.

Previously I had been using a 7950 which never crashed like this. I am thinking of preferably getting a fix for this card or if not returning it and going with Nvidia 9800 GTX+. It was very frustrating to buy a new card and have these kind of problems, any help would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

i will say this seems like it happened overnight! one day (pre-install) everything was working fine, as it had for months before, even using win7 (and xp before that). then I did a clean install (b/c 1) get rid of dual boot which was causing ntldr error i think and 2) got a new 60gb ssd), ran all the window's updates, microsoft security essentials and now its crashing whenever I run my games, randomly. I've had it work for 5 hours or 15 minutes before it CTDs and in two cases BSOD and in another two cases complete freeze I had to hard-reboot.

I have tried THREE 5870's and all of them have caused Grey Screens. AMD 5xxx is garbage. Nvidia, please don't disappoint. On this note, if I were to take a look at all the electronic crap I own I would say that 10% of it is just crap. I have a Yamaha 6.1 Reciever, the Sub channel is dead, a Keurig Coffee maker, makes coffee 25% of the time I push "Brew", Klipsch 5.1 computer speakers, Subwoofer AMP died, iPhone 3G, slower than Leap Year & hangs frequently, not to mention that many of the apps don't work...ie Bump. IMO technology is a necessary evil, just wish mfg's would introduce a LOT more quality control and be proud of what their making and selling to consumers. It's not just about the bottom line.

I think -finally- that they have addressed this problem. I had issues with ATI 5770 card and CCC versions 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3. 10.4 seems to finally have fixed things.

Went into the bios and upped the voltage for my pcie slot by .2 volts. It's working perfectly!!!

To conclude my story after I received the second XFX 4770 after an RMA, I sent it back and got my money back. Next day I purchased an EVGA 9800GTX+
and the card has not had a single problem, gives me better graphics and overall EVGA and Nvidia are just superior companies. Shame on XFX and ATI for not admitting to this problem and doing something about it.

I have a Gigabyte 5750 and the same problems. I discovered that my card had not the latest bios version from gigabyte. I flahed the latest version(F3) instead of F2 version(originally on card) and now the video card is more stable. I did not get yet problems in games, but I still can not run becnhmarks(3dmark vantage and unigine heaven are crashing). I think the only difference between F2 and F3 bios from giganyte are that F3 contains more ClockInfos(clock info 1 to 5, like you can see with RadeonBiosEditor).

"Grey Screen of Death" fix? Setting system Power Options in the Control Panel set to High Performance make a difference?

I got Gray screen on my HD 4850 card when I connected to a 2nd screen via HDMI cable - I've had the card for just over a year and use 2 screens to play Crysis 2 on the internet and about a month ago my screen kept going Gray (playing with one screen was fine) so I cleaned the fans and now everything fine.
Running Windows 7 64bit 8gig memory i7 2.8ghz.

Can I have this problem with my Sapphire 6850.. Because for me, I crash while I'm idle, playing games and randomly.

I see gray, or stripes or flashing screen. asus g73, 64 bit, windows 7, ati 5870. I bought it for the dedicated memory, for speed...ugh

Currently using ATI 5870 sapphire. Just want to share how I get rid of the freeze, and by no way it is a sure fix...
I was getting freezes with black screens with noises after 10 minutes playing TF2, even BF 3. Checked it for quite some time and tried to use ccleaner to fix the registry issues I had. After that it was fine and playing for hours. Might need to do it every time you restart your pc though, not so sure.

Hope this helps.
