Hello guys.

The question is, how come people in general recommend new cards, which seem underpowered, for example GTX 750 TI which has lower bandwidth than my Radeon 6950.

I mean, what should i look for in a new video card. I'm currently using an Asus Radeon 6950 1GB DirectCU2.

Some new cards, for example GTX 950 has lower bandwidth also and only 128 bit bus width.

Please take a look:

The bus may be smaller on the 950 but the RAM is a lot faster. I mean if you're playing CSGO and League or something it's still not necessary to upgrade. If you want to play higher tier games though just look up benchmarks at the resolution you're playing at. Nothing beats the real numbers. I'd suggest getting an RX 480 4gb if you want a reasonably priced card that will blow your 6950 out of the water.

I have an AMD Phenom B55 @ 3.7 GHZ, i think RX 480 is overkill? I need something new but which does not bottlneck my CPU

It all depends on what you're doing. Your current setup is more than fine for everyday use and basic games and it's never good to spend money on stuff you don't need. A B55 will bottleneck an rx 480, but there's nothing stopping you from putting the 480 in a new rig if you decide to build one so it's not a waste of money. If you want to play newer AAA titles at decent settings and have the money to do it, now is probably a decent time to build a new system, and if you want to stay AMD then zen should be coming in a few months.

Thank you for you answers. The problem is that my video card is about to die (i think the temperature / fan sensor is defective, the fan stays at 100% and the temperature is -170 degrees or something like this). I need a recommendation, if you will, for a video card that will pair with my CPU and be similar to my Radeon 6950, as i don't currently have the money for full system upgrade :)

I was thinking about Geforce GTX 950 or RX 460...

Either of those is fine. The 460 doesn't make much sense at least in the US where the price difference between it and the 470 is so small, but either of those cards anything new in the $140-180 range will be fine IMO.
