Radeon 9250 No AGP texture acceleration?

Heres what im working with:
Radeon 9250 256mb 128bit AGP Video Card
ECS RS400-A Mobo

My computer is showing that i have no AGP Texture Acceleration in DXdiag. Its just grayed out. I have read alot of forums and everyone keeps saying that in order to have AGP Texture Acceleration enabled you have to have AGP enabled in the Bios. One problem with that.... I cant seem to find anything in my bios about enabling AGP. I contacted tech support and all they could say is that i need to review my motherboard manual. I have installed and reinstalled my video and motherboard drivers over and over and even updated my bios and still nothing. Im using my video card right now and it works fine but i cant seem to get AGP Texture Acceleration enabled. I have went through my Bios over and over again and cant seem to find anything about enabling AGP. If im using my video card it has to be enabled....right? In the video option in my bios it has PCI/AGP - OnboardVGA - PCIexpress and its set on PCI/AGP. Heres some pictures of whats going on. Any help?

Strange, maybe you should update your motherboard BIOS.

I assume you are using a P4 or something based on the motherboard and age of the card. Download and run 3DMark 2001SE (download here) on default settings, then tell me what you get. If you can't run it, then theres a problem. If it runs but you get a really low score, another problem. You should get 6-10k 3dmarks. If AGP texture acceleration (and anything AGP) isn't being detected it may still be working.

Yeah i updated my Bios already and still nothing. I know the video card is way past its prime but i really cant afford a new one right now.

Btw, I made a mistake before, you should get 4-8k, but don't mark me on that. I'm going off what I see on other similar systems.

2g of DDR2? can you still get a ddr2 mobo with agp graphics?

upon further inspection that paricular mobo has both ddr and pciexpress, but also something called "agp express".

That doesn't look to good for me. You said between 4-8k and i only got 3.4k.

Like i said i need to get a new one but its hard to get the money needed to get a top or even middle of the line card these days.

Yeah yeah yeah i know my computer isn't too good but its good for what i use it for. It goes online, works with Madden 08 and runs fine with Nero 7 and thats basically what i use it for. I only spent $195 to build this computer so i guess i got off easy(Thats mobo and processor, video card, 2gb memory for under $195). I got all my parts off of ebay some new(Mobo, Processor and 1gb ddr2$150) and some used (video card, 1gb ddr2$45)). I just used my old 40gb hard drive and case and i was up and running.

Thats what I'm worried about. It has this AGP Express. Heres what it says about the AGP Express slot in the manual.

"The AGP Express slot is used to install and AGP Graphics card that emulates the AGP Function. To get better performance and compatibility on out special design AGP Express slot, we recommand users use one of the AGP graphics card that have been tested by our company. AGP 8X/4X VGA card."

Yes it was. The R9000, 9250, 9500, 9700pro, 9000pro and the 9200 CF was tested.

Note also: that Catalyst 6.11 is the newest driver package your vidcard will support.
Go to Micro$soft to get dxwebsetup.exe - it will find ~20-22MB of DirectX updates for most people.
I believe your answers might be found in BIOS setup. I have your mobo manual; I will check it out and see what I can determine

So: you have downloaded the ATI chipset drivers? Note: They (ATI) direct you to Catalyst 7.11 - this is incorrect.
You need the ATI GART:

Yes i have downloaded the correct 6.1 drivers. It looks like a lost cause with this. The AGP Express just isnt compatible with the Radeon 9250. Well i have been in contact with their tech team and they told me that the Radeon 9250 256mb for some reason doesn't react well to the AGP Express. So it looks like i will have to get another card.


Quick question do you think a Nvidia GeForce 8400GS PCI-Express 128-bit 256MB video card will work with this motherboard? If so i have found a deal that i can get it used for $42.

Yes, I'm sure that vidcard will work fine for you. Surely a good improvement over the other...
Keep in mind, you can get (for example) Asus Extreme GeForce EN8500GT w/512Mb DDR2, Retail Box, for only $89 bucks brand new.
Maybe offer $40 bucks for that other one (but make sure that it works, first).

Yeah i play games like Madden and NBA Live on my PC. I'm not into Call of Duty or games like that tho and they are the ones that usually require the best cards.

I purchased the video card last night for $42. It seemed like a good deal. The guy said it was never overclocked and that it wasnt used much. He was getting rid of it because he upgraded to a newer one. It should be good for what im using it for(Madden plays great with this old card so it should do the same with the GeForce.

Ok well guys i just wanted to give an update on this now. I just got the new card about 35 minutes ago. I installed it and it works just fine. I ran 3DMark2001se again and here is what i got.
