Radeon 9600 pro or xt?

the BB-ATI's may be bland (except the killer EVIL GOALIE Box), but they overclock better than 90% of the cards out there.

Let me know what your Overclocks are and we can compare.

I don't need the flash and bling-bling CoolS is looking for, just gimme the best quality and features of the actual card. Heck all the missing connectors I already had (like 3 of each, even the DVI-VGA adapter I have 2 now and I don't even need it yet).

There's very few Mfr. I'd put above the BBAs, and the Sapphires I'd only recommend the FireBlade edition, and that's at such a premium, I'd say spend the money and go Hercules if you can, the most non-bland cards in the ATI line (although that may change with the addition of Asus to the fold).

I can't beleive I'm saying this, but;

Don't count nV out just yet. Yes I respect your preference, we all have them, but don't ignore the FX5700U if it is an improved card, and does outperform. But if you are stuck on ATI, they are doing very well with their stuff right now.

It shouldn't be too long a wait befor we know how things shape up. It appears that the NDA for the FX5700 expires at the end of the month. As for the ATI respin we'll likely know by mid-late Nov. I'd think.

However don't wait too long, you still want to be able to get the R9600Pro should you want to go that route (they'll likely still be around 'til X-mas in most lines, and then many OEMs should still be carrying them 'til Spring). Also I doubt that they will come down significantly more after the end of the month, and you could be playing all that time, instead of saving ~$5.

So Don't close your mind to the FXs completely, but if you do the R9600 series isn't a BAD choice by any means (I really like mine).

Anywhoo, that's just my take on it.

I'll submit the results. Though it will not be overclocked results. I haven't overclocked since I had my P3. (600Mhz to 800Mhz standard cooling, been running like that for 3,5 years) Back then it was easier.

I'm getting the card today, whole weekend to play.

I got the Transcend Radeon 9600Pro today. Runs at 300/400Mhz. The memory is Samsung 325. I haven't tweaked a single thing on the PC yet. My Aquamark score is 25966. (No AA of course) Kicks my friend's 5600 butt so bad. The card cost me about $132. It should be cheaper in your country. I'll post some overclocking results the weekend.

The funny thing is that it's STILL wrong.

It's 2.86ns memory (wouldn't that make it 2.9?), the only 2.8ns memory out there is the crap Hynix stuff on the Connect3D (and the like) boards and that stuff actually overclocks WORSE than the 2.86ns stuff.

But it's a small omission.... I GUESS!

[Old man's voice] My, my, what big ears you have [Old man's voice]

Your score is quite impressive. I see your card is clocked quite high. Mine's 300/400 still. What is your AGP voltage? What's best... Omega or Cat 3.8?

Radeon 9600 xt own Geforce fx 5700 because:

1: Radeon 9600 xt got more fps in games, look on battlefield 20 fps more!!
2: Radeon 9600 xt got a lower price than Geforce fx 5700

I help because you suck

Voltage is the same, uping the bus without the voltmod seems to adversly effect scores.

And actually my card can go 535/365(730) without artifacts/lock-ups. And usually when people post clockrates it's core/mem(effective mem) just FYI. Also, there's alot of members who have be able to acheive above 550mhz cores without the volt mod, and with the volt mod have been able to push to core above 600 and the memory above 375.

As for drivers Omega's usually give you the best gaming experience (although the ones based on the 'leaked' drivers seem to have a few glitches), but for overclocking and benchmarking I've found the standard Cat drivers use in conjunction with Rage3DTweak works best (a little more control on clock/core speeds too [as long as you don't want to go outside the slider's range {which was close for me, Core maxs at ~550 on the Rage3D OC utility}]).

LOL!

GW, look at my Speeds, not the max we got in our last battle. And I can always slap in a friend's XP3000+ (166/333) just to beat that. What's a little AS3 just to whup ya'?

Do you really wanna go head-to-head again?!? Looking for a fried.. err, burning excuse for a new card?

The Transcend runs beautifully. Runs at 453/345 MHz stock cooling. 3DMark gives artifacts at 465/360. Mind you, I'm running a $15 PSU and it was rather hot yesterday. (one case fan as well) AquaMarks is sitting at 29,247. Probably have to get Omega drivers as well as some ramsinks... Thanks for the help. I know it was someone elses post. Sorry.

At this rate we'll all be going to hell. But at least I have box seats.
