Alright...you have all told me to buy this card over any nvidia card and blah blah blah, so I spent an extra 60 dollars to get this card instead of the fx 5200. Now all my games hate me. Why is it when I play gunbound...I can't see any of the characters. The maps look marvelous...but the characters are invisible. And in Humvee Assault I fall into white pits and get pulled off the map..then it freezes.

What can I do to make sure this card will actually do something that's worth 160 dollars. Because right now it's a piece of garbage.

Ssssssssssssucker. nVidia really pulled you in on that one. You see, nVidia drivers have little nasty files made to bug the install of any other brand of card. Think of it like a time bomb, or a virus, made to destroy the stability/usability of competitors products. They KNEW you'd blame ATI when ATI's card didn't work right, NEVER SUSPECTING that it might be caused by left over nVidia files lurking in the background. They suckered you.

Use Detonator Destroyer, or RIP, or whatever the current best nVidia driver remover is. Then reinstal your ATI card's driver.

There is always the possibility that your games have flaws in them too, because most companies write for nVidia first and often have to provide game patches to work with ATI. This is VERY common with EA for example (EA Sports, EA Games). I had to get the SECOND patch for Need For Speed: Underground before my problems were solved. EA's not worried, they figured you'd blame ATI as well.

May have to reinstall windows if crossing from nvidia to ATI. A little thing that Nvidia did to make poeple not crossing over. Honestly that 9600XT is worth it. The 5200 is utter crap, hell the ti4200 is better than the fx5200.

I still to this day have nVidia and ATi display drivers on this windows install, without any conflicts or problems. I'd also like to point out that the games he mentioned having troubles with are incredibly cheap/poorly coded games, which is likely the reason why he is having problems.

Yes, I remember a time when I used to switch my video cards every few days to pin-point the hardware problem I had. I had a Radeon 9600P and a Geforce MX 440. Games ran a lot better on the Nvidia.

P.S.: NOT!

POST is way overrated, the black screen and beeps should be enough for most people.

Another good program is Nasty File Remover. I will remove nVidia, ATI, Matrox, Creative & S3. I used it after Detonator RIP and found more files. Its a handly little program to have around.

Just a bit. I also bought an ATI Radeon 9600XT and love it. I had an Nvidia FX5200 (got it for free stop laughing) and hated it, but it was better than a TNT2. You want a good entry level gaming card that won't give you probs, you made an excellent choice. Reload windows, reinstall yer $5 games and have at it. I reinstall windows every 6 months, just cuz. Its fun. Don't forget to format.
