Radeon 9700 pro Annoyance

I'm running a radeon 9700 pro on an asus a7n8x-x mobo, and every once in a while when I restart the computer, the display gets a little corrupted, like I can still see everything but it's like the letters on screen are kindof smeared around. If I restart the computer again it usually goes away, but it does this maybe every 10-15 restarts, and it's just annoying. So I'm wondering if anyone else has/had that problem or if you know what to do about it, thanks.

Yeh used to happen with my 9800pro. I narrowed it down to bad drivers or windows corruption on mine. I reinstalled windows and it went away.

You may want to try new drivers see if that makes a difference, also do the usual check that the card is sitting properly and its not overheating fans working no dust etc etc.

does this smearing happen in the bios screens ??

if it does then its a problem with the board or card, if it only happens in windows then it totally software related...
