Radeon or nividia?

I'm wondering If I should get the a R9 280x or a gtx 960 ssc. I was going to get the 280x however I can save money by getting a smaller PSU. Also current game requirements also state that a recommended Gpu for AMD is the 290, while for nividia its only the GTX 960. However with direct 12 coming out soon, most r9 200 series cards will get a 400% percent increase in graphics power, with Nvidia only gaming an extra 15%. Therefore I cant decide to get a current slow card (gtx 960) or a older card (280x).
Because this my explanation is kinda confusing ill answer any questions you may have.

You're fine with that power supply. I would get the R9 280x, it is much stronger then the GTX 960, if you had a smaller power supply i would of suggested the 960. I have a Radeon HD 7950 , (basically an R9 280) , and my graphics card is stronger then my friend's 960. It costs a lot more power then a 960, though. If you need help looking at certain models, i can help you too.
