Radeon R9 270x Opinions

I'm currently looking at the Radeon R9 270x as a possible GPU upgrade and was wondering what the general consensus was regarding them. People I've talked to generally don't like Radeon due to driver problems and slow updates. I wanted to know if that's true? or if it's just a dated opinion.

Also I wanted to know if the Radeon R9 270x in particular is still a decent card or if there's any outstanding problems with it?

Also what brand would you suggest I buy it from? I was currently looking at one from sapphire.

I have the MSI gaming 270 non x and it runs the games I play on ultra just fine 60-75 fps with no msaa. I mostly play BF4 though. Seems to be a pretty good card. I have only had driver problems with battlefield. I cant really use mantle because my framerate drops so bad. with dx11 it runs perfect.

You run BF4 on Ultra with it? Nice! Did a fix for the Driver Problem get released within a reasonable amount of time? or did you have to fix it on your own? (If there's problems with it that don't get fixed I'm hesitant to buy one)

Yea I looked and those frame rates were actually with 4xmsaa. And I am having problems with it right now I just cannot get mantle to work right. But directx still works for me. maybe I am doing something wrong. Idk i have a post about it right now lol trying to figure out what is wrong with it.

Sounding like a pretty solid card, have you had any overheating problems with it? (and is it overclocked?)

No overheating. Runs around 65 degrees celcius during gaming on 20% fan speed. Fan never goes any higher than that so far.

Sweet, thanks for the input. Good luck getting your driver problem resolved. Barring any other information, I think I'll be going with the R9 270x.

The R9 270X is generally accepted as a stable card. NVidia drivers are released a little frequently but that really doesn't matter.

I have personally yet to have a major AMD driver problem.

Yea. and Im sure the problem I am having is easily fixed I just need to call and figure out what to do lol. Im probably one of the few with the problem I am having.
